We help where we are needed. We provide immediate humanitarian aid to people affected by war or natural disaster. As part of our development cooperation, we help people to cut loose and make a living.

25-year-old Gloria, a refugee from the Democratic Republic of Congo living in Zambia, had lost all hope to pursue a higher education until she received the news that she was selected for the DAFI scholarship for refugees. She is now a thriving bachelor's student in communication at the Cavendish University and wants to inspire other girls and refugees with her resilience. We spoke to Gloria in Lusaka, where she told us her story.

Caritas Internationalis urges for an immediate ceasefire in the Holy Land

In response to the ongoing conflict between Hamas and Israel and the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip, the global organisation Caritas Internationalis, of which we are also a member, has issued a statement: "Now is the time for peace". It calls for an immediate cessation of fighting in the Holy Land, respect for international humanitarian law, the release of hostages and the immediate provision of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.

On the 17th of November, Caritas Czech Republic will receive the Medal of Merit in Diplomacy from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Jan Lipavský. This exceptional recognition is awarded to personalities and organisations that have significantly contributed to the development of foreign relations between the Czech Republic and other countries. In the following interview, Jiří Škvor, Head of the Humanitarian Aid and Development Cooperation Department, explains what this award means to Caritas Czech Republic and tells us more about the organisation’s work around the world.

Caritas Czech Republic in Zambia supports over 100 farmers in the Meheba refugee settlement to establish home gardens and raise small livestock.
