What we do

Priorities of CCR country programme in Zambia are based on the existing and predicted needs. A brief overview of respective priorities follows below. Furthermore, being UN agencies’ implementing partner, CCR focuses its interventions on the main priorities stated by the Zambian Government in the 7th National Plan.

Humanitarian Aid -Nexus

In the humanitarian field, CCR as the main livelihood implementing partner of UNHCR, works in three refugee settlements and in the Transit Camp, located in Lusaka Province.

  • Economic empowerment - improve self-reliance and livelihoods

The livelihood sector is demonstrated through implementation of activities focusing on entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, vocational training and development of income generating activities in Mayukwayukwa, Meheba and Mantapala Refugee resettlements as well as in Lusaka.

 

  • Social protection

CCR aims to improve access to basic needs and essential services through provision of education support to vulnerable children, access to educational services through Outreach Centres, to improve access to social services and referral system to Outreach Centres in Lusaka

 

Development cooperation

In its development cooperation programmes, CCR focuses on Western, Luapula and Central Province.

  • Health and nutrition

Between 2013 and 2018, CCR implemented project on Improving Maternal and Child Health Care in Western Province, reaching more than 25,000 women and 10,000 adolescent girls and boys annually with its sensitization activities. As of 2019, CCR is focusing on promoting production and consumption of nutritious foods through awareness on nutrition and maternal, infant and young child feeding practices, school gardens, promotion of diversified agriculture, increased production, post-harvest management and improved access to agriculture markets.

  • Economic empowerment

The organization’s experience in the livelihood sector is demonstrated through implementation of activities focusing on entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, vocational training and development of income generating activities. In agriculture sector, CCR focuses on improving productivity, development of value chains, through support and capacity building of farmers and cooperatives, promoting innovation as well as nutrition sensitive and climate smart agriculture, facilitation of linkages to markets and financial services. CCR works with different categories of farmers including small-scale, medium-scale and emerging farmers.
