Full Name: Rice value chain development through support of post-harvest technology in selected cooperatives
Duration: April 2018 - September 2018
Problem with post-harvest losses, up to 16% of rice production is lost due to inappropriate post-harvest handling. Low income from rice farming could be increased by value addition by farmers and their greater participation in the rice value chain - rice milling, bulking, grading, packaging, etc.
Implementation and Results:
- 80 farmers have improved rice post-harvest management
- 2 cooperatives and farmers in their area have access to local transport and rice polishing for their production
- 50 farmers gained entrepreneurship skills and see agriculture as business
