Full Name: Market Area Development at Mantapala Refugee Settlement
Duration: April 2019-December 2019
The project targets traders and customers from refugee and host communities at Mantapala Settlement. The following is the total population targeted within the settlement: 10,000 refugees at the Mantapala Settlement 6,500 persons from host communities in and around the settlement Zambia hosts approx. 73,000 refugees and others of concern from Angola, Burundi, DRC, Rwanda and Somalia at the end of June 2018.
Implementation and Results:
- A market was constructed to provide access to refugees and host community to a permanent markets infrastructure in order to trade and buy their merchandise. Both refugees and Zambians acquired plots and a market committee was formed
